TIANJIN, China, Aug. 13, 2021 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project at TEDA Nursery School in Tianjin, China. The project brought together nearly 30 volunteers from PPG’s Tianjin site, who spent almost 60 hours revitalizing and beautifying the school’s exterior.
In cooperation with the TEDA Charity Association, PPG provided more than $50,000 (approximately RMB 330,000) to assist with the project, including 93 gallons (352 liters) of SEIGNEURIE™ exterior paint by PPG.
The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Tianjin, where PPG has a production facility and global coatings innovation center.
Established in 1999, the TEDA Nursery School is a local kindergarten offering health and arts education. Due to the school’s coastal location, its exterior walls were stained and faded from the sea breeze. The Colorful Communities project aimed to create a colorful, brilliant and refreshed campus environment for the school’s nearly 400 students.

"Our teachers and children really like the graphics and colors designed by PPG, and the overall design fits well with the arts education that we promote. It allows our children to grow up in a warm and open environment.”
Featuring an orange tone and a minimalist design, the refurbishing project used different saturations of colors to echo the orange hue of the original exterior walls and achieve an integration of colors. As the warmest color, orange is associated with happiness and liveliness and symbolizes the vitality and vigor of life. Combined with the building’s round corners, the overall design of the exterior walls resembles a book, suggesting opening a new chapter for a bright future for the children.
