GUANGZHOU, China, Oct. 23, 2018 – PPG (NYSE:PPG) recently announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ project in the Nansha District in Guangzhou, China, that helped revitalize the gate and fence of the Huangge Senior Citizens Nursing Home. The
Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Nansha, where PPG has an industrial coatings facility.
The project brought together more than 80 PPG volunteers, who spent 160 hours revitalizing the nursing home. PPG provided more than $37,500 (RMB 255,000) to assist with the project, including more than 680 liters (180 gallons) of SEIGNEURIE
® paint products.
The Huangge Senior Citizens Nursing Home serves as a home and daycare center for senior citizens in and around Huangge Town, providing a gathering spot for entertainment and socialization. The
Colorful Communities project is expected to benefit more than 100 senior citizens and staff who live or work in the nursing house and 6,000 local residents each year.
Volunteers painted the facility’s gate in a shade of white and the fence in a light orange and white color palette, which was chosen to create a warm and bright space.
“PPG is proud to help the Huangge Senior Citizens Nursing Home, which enables the area’s senior citizens to maintain important social and creative connections,” said Cathy Yan, PPG general manager, corporate and government affairs, Asia Pacific. “The project offered an excellent opportunity for our employee volunteers to engage with the senior members of the community while helping beautify their daily lives.”
The
Colorful Communities program, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. Through the
